Search and Rescue Support Flight from Geilenkirchen to occur outside standard hours

NATO Air Base, Geilenkirchen, Germany – Due to support requirements the E-3A Component plans to conduct a possible flight on Friday 16 March, around midnight. This extra flight is in support of Swedish and Norwegian rescue workers searching for the missing Norwegian C-130J “Hercules”.

Last night a NATO AWACS, temporarily stationed at Oerland, Norway, supported the search and rescue.

The leadership of the E-3A Component recognizes the impact flying operations have on surrounding communities and works to minimize noise levels as much as possible by restricting flying to standard operating hours Monday through Friday from 08.00 until 22.00 hrs.
