Exemplary teamwork in the Cargo Movement Section
2008 - Year of the NCO in NATO

Gen. Bantz Craddock, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, has declared 2008 to be the Year of the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). "I encourage leaders at all levels to support us in this important work. Our NCOs are an integral link in the chain of command and leadership in NATO. They are ambassadors for their nations. They are helping us transform the Alliance. We cannot succeed without them," said Gen. Craddock.

As part of this initiative, the Component recognizes the professionalism and dedication of the NCO Corps by highlighting NCOs from the various nations working side by side in. This story is about a team of NCO's that work at Cargo Movement Section ensuring all cargo transiting through NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen gets to its appointed destination.

In 2007 the Cargo Movements Section loaded and unloaded almost 450 sorties with cargo amounting over 3.5 million kilograms. More impressive, this four-man section accomplished this with absolutely no safety incidents, and was recognised by the German Safety Ministry. They are setting the example for "team-efforts", working through manpower shortages to ensure critical supplies and equipment get to the NATO and ISAF forces in Afghanistan. The team consists of outstanding NCO's and ambassadors for NATO, who ensures all air cargo issues are handled with the highest degree of professionalism.
