German Minister of Defense visit 9 Aug 2007

On 9 August 2007, the German Minister of Defense, Dr. Franz Josef Jung visited the Allied Joint Forces Command Headquarters Brunssum (JFC HQ Brunssum) and the NATO E-3A Component at the Geilenkirchen air base.
In the morning, General Egon Ramms, Commander of JFC HQ Brunssum gave a briefing primarily focused on the current situation of the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. That was followed by a brief from the Chief of the German Delegation about his mission within the HQ. At noon, the Minister had the opportunity to meet German soldiers and their dependents for lunch.
In the afternoon, Deputy Component Commander Colonel Jelle Zijlstra, RNLAF, at the E-3A Component welcomed the Minister. The Minister received information about the current mission and its challenges during his flight on an E-3A.
